The first kidney transplant operation was performed at the Central Military Clinical Hospital (CMCH) of the Ministry of Defense.

Shukhrat Ziyotov was born in Kashkadarya region. He has served in the Army for more than 18 years. In 2018, he was released to the reserve after a health problem was observed. In the past, he underwent various medical treatments for kidney failure. When his health did not improve, he appealed to the Ministry of Defense for help.

Uzbekistan MoD took urgent practical steps. According to the results of the examination and diagnosis carried out in collaboration with the specialists of the Republican Specialized Surgery Center named after Academician Vakhidov, the need for kidney transplantation was identified. Shukhrat Ziyotov’s wife said she was ready to become a donor.

-“My husband’s health is more important to me than anything, and if my family recovers quickly, that’s enough for me,” said Mushtariy Murodova. – “We have 3 children. I want to see our future with my spouse. All the necessary medicines and treatments were provided to us free of charge during the pre-operative period. I would like to thank all the doctors.”

“For the first time in the history of military medicine, we performed a complex surgical operation – a kidney transplant,” said Ulugbek Rasulov, deputy chief of the Uzbekistan MoD CMCH.

– The operation, which lasted more than 7 hours, was successful. Both are in good condition now. The Ministry of Defense played a great role in conducting this surgery. They were fully provided with the necessary surgical equipment and medicines. In addition, it will now be monitored until the patient and donor are fully recovered. All necessary treatments are provided free of charge. I want to emphasize another important point. In the coming days, the new 8-story building of our military hospital will be fully completed. After that, in addition to providing medical care to our military and family members, we will have the opportunity to provide medical services to other citizens. We are ready to use all our knowledge and potential, taking advantage of the vast opportunities created for us.
