Uzbekistan and Turkey: a new stage of cooperation

Partnership in political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, science, culture and other fields which based on mutual trust and respect, is developing successively between Uzbekistan and Turkey.

Close friendship and fraternal relations based on a common language and history, similar culture and traditions always gather our countries. We should mention, it was also a high expression of this brotherhood that Turkey was the first to recognize the Independence of Uzbekistan. An agreement on Eternal friendship and cooperation was signed between our countries in 1996th year.  In October 2017, during the first state visit of our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkey to raise the cooperation of our countries to the level of strategic partnership a Joint statement was signed.

Through the short period, these relations have reached the level of strategic partnership. Between our countries mutual beneficial friendly relations are steadily increasing. Communication at all levels has sharply intensified. Uzbekistan and Turkey are constantly supporting each other within the framework of international organizations.

 During the visit of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uzbekistan in March of current year, 9 documents were signed aimed at further expanding multifaceted Uzbekistan-Turkey cooperation at the level of governments, ministries and offices of the two countries. One of them was the Military intergovernmental agreement.

On 5th of December of this year, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Ratification of the Martial law agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey” was adopted.  Military situation in the agreement, based on mutual respect for the sovereignty and equality of both sides, cooperation in various military fields will contribute to the common interests and economic efficiency of the parties and it is necessary to improve the existing friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey on the basis of national laws, international regulations and agreements.

As mentioned in Military agreement, among the military personnel of two countries joint trainings in togetherness and exchanging experience, to hold master classes in military sphere, to publish scientific and other articles in publishing house of two countries, military medicine and healthcare filed service, communication, electronics, IT systems and cyber security, cartography and hydrography, exchanging military scientific and technological information and experience will be carried out.
